Objectives

United Hearts Youth Foundation Limited was established on February 14, 2000 as a registered non-profit making organization. It strives to provide the children in Hong Kong and mountain areas in China with more learning opportunities and better learning environment.

School construction in rural areas

Since our establishment, our visiting team has been exploring suitable sites in rural areas to build schools. Our visiting team witnessed the establishment of the schools in Hunan and Guizhou in May 2001 and attended the school inaugural ceremonies. Until now, schools are built every year to provide more opportunities for the children, especially those living in distant areas, to receive education in nearby schools and shorten their commuting time.

Back to School

「再窮不能窮教育，再苦不能苦孩子」literally translates to 'Though poor, we could not be poor on education; though bitter, we could not be bitter to the children.' It is very common to see this slogan in the mountain areas. From the visits we pay to the families in these areas, we come to understand the financial difficulties faced by them. Though they truly believe that knowledge can change their fate and education is the only way to relieve poverty and they are ready to save every penny for their children’s education, a vast number of school-age children are forced to leave school because of insufficient financial supports.

"I Want to Study" Tuition Aid Project

United Hearts implements the "I Want to Study" tuition aid project to provide supports for needy students to return to schools. "I Want to Study" is launched to promote the essence of 「助人自助」- meaning "help others and rely on (one)self" to the children.

Community Services in Hong Kong

United Hearts organizes diverse community activities, such as visiting children with chronic illness and offering tuition to newly migrated children and children in single-parent families etc. Our summer programme to experience life in village aims to render Hong Kong children chances to exchange their experiences with their counterparts in China. This programme also helps participants to be more independent.

Fundraising Activities

1. Fundraising Road Show
"Education and School-building Fundraising Road Show" is one of the largest fundraising projects of United Hearts. With our solid experience and the aid of around 600 volunteers to solicit donation in public areas, the event was brought to great success. This activity also arouses public awareness on United Hearts Youth Foundation Limited. All donations and funds are effectively used towards children education.

2. General Fundraising
In order to collect donation as well as to promote United Hearts to the general public, we collaborate with some voluntary groups in fundraising activities.

Building Up Future

The success of United Hearts Youth Foundation Limited greatly depends on the support of our members and our volunteers on fundraising activities, promotion, school-building as well as education fund etc. We try with our best endeavors for the school-age children - the valuable assets of our society.
